Our Story
A little history, a lot of pride, and a trail system built by people who cared enough to make it happen.
Like a lot of things in Minnesota, the North Branch Sno-Drifters started with a few people, some sleds, and an idea.
What began in 1968 has grown into a volunteer-run club focused on keeping trails open, well-marked, and rideable for the community. While a lot has changed over the years, the heart of the club has stayed pretty much the same.
Where It Started
The North Branch Sno-Drifters were formed in 1968 by five charter members who helped lay the groundwork for the club and its trail system:
-
Cecil Coe
-
Dale Pierce
-
Duane Deming
-
Denny Gustafson
-
Loren Magnison
Their early vision helped create something that has lasted for generations.
Why the Club Was Formed
The club was established to promote the welfare and safety of snowmobiling while serving local riders through marked and well-groomed trails.
From the beginning, it was about more than just riding. It was about building something organized, safe, and lasting for the snowmobiling community in and around North Branch.
Built by Volunteers
Like it was in the early days, the work behind the scenes is still powered by volunteers.
Trail brushing, sign repair, grooming, maintenance, events, and all the little things in between only happen because people continue to show up and put in the time. That volunteer spirit has always been a big part of what makes the Sno-Drifters what they are.
Still Going Strong
Today, the North Branch Sno-Drifters continue the same mission with a strong focus on trail maintenance, landowner relationships, rider safety, and community involvement.
Our trail system connects with surrounding clubs and remains an important part of snowmobiling in this area. We are proud of where it started, and just as proud to keep it going.
The trails don’t happen by accident. They happen because people show up.
Still volunteer-run. Still local. Still worth being proud of.
